2. Technology Process Diagram
The wastewater treatment system designed by Dai Nam Environment comprises several key components:
2.1 Collection Tank
Wastewater generated from residential rental areas undergoes preliminary treatment via septic tanks and is then conveyed by gravity to the collection tank. From here, it is pumped into the equalization tank.
2.2 Equalization Tank
This tank is engineered to regulate flow and pollutant concentration, with key advantages such as:

Storing peak-hour wastewater and distributing it evenly to subsequent treatment units

Managing highly polluted influent streams

Preventing overload of downstream treatment processes

Acting as a buffer tank during maintenance or shutdowns

A submersible mixer ensures uniform mixing, preventing anaerobic decomposition and unpleasant odors.
2.3 Anoxic Tank
Before entering this tank, wastewater passes through a screen basket to remove large debris and avoid clogging pumps and pipes.
In the anoxic tank, denitrification occurs, converting nitrate and nitrite into nitrogen gas. Nitrate-rich water is recycled from the aerobic tank, and activated sludge is returned from the clarifier to maintain optimal biomass levels.
2.4 Aerobic Biological Tank (MBBR Technology)
The Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) uses suspended carriers for aerobic treatment. Microorganisms attached to these carriers break down organic pollutants.
Air blowers supply oxygen to facilitate aerobic microbial activity. To maintain sludge levels, return sludge from the clarifier is redirected to the anoxic tank. A recycle pump circulates water back to the anoxic tank, ensuring continuous nitrogen removal. Effluent then flows by gravity to the clarifier.
2.5 Secondary Clarifier
In this tank, biomass and treated water are separated. Settled sludge is collected in a sludge pit due to the sloped bottom. A portion of this sludge is returned to the anoxic tank, and the excess is sent to the sludge holding tank.
Disinfection Tank
This tank ensures pathogen removal using chlorine-based disinfectants. The disinfected water is pumped through pressure sand filters, ensuring the treated effluent complies with QCVN 14:2008/BTNMT, Column A before being discharged into the municipal drainage system.
2.6 Sludge Holding Tank
Excess sludge from the clarifier is stored here for further digestion and volume reduction:

The Aerotank (aerobic tank) is equipped with a recirculation pump that returns treated water back to the Anoxic tank for effective nitrogen removal
